Title: Introduction to the Google Platform Grade Level: PreK-Adult Curriculum Areas: All This one hour Google workshop will introduce and explain how to use the Google platform in the classroom and in our professional lives. This platform is a free tools for educational organizations to be used by both educators and students.
Essential Question( s): What is the Google platform ? How can Google be used in the school environment? Instructional Objectives: Participants will be able to organize and manipulate Google Drive and Google Docs Materials Copies of Handouts 1-3 Individual Computers with Internet Access Standards: ISTE-T- 1. Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity. Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
ISTE-T-2.Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the Standards-S.
Procedures:
1. I will introduce the workshop by showing the Introduction clip about Moon Shot Thinking. I will then ask teachers if they are familiar at all with Google and all of its capabilities. I will explain that today's professional development will provide an opportunity for them to access and organize their own Google Drive and work some with Google Docs and answer any questions about it they may have.
2. I will direct teachers to login to Google on their individual computers. This can also be done through logging into school system email accounts.
3.Teachers will then click on the Google Apps on the top right corner of their screen to be taken to the variety of options they can choose. I will show teachers the informational video about Google Apps and how to manage their own organization
4. Participants will work independently exploring and organize using the handouts. I will be available to answer any questions that arise.
5. Participants will complete a post workshop survey using Google forms. Work Period: Participants will have 30-40 minutes to set up and organize their Google drive accounts. They can move forward with the Google Docs if they feel comfortable. I will assist as needed during this process. Closing: The professional development will conclude by me sharing my email address with the group, as well as making accessible, the link to the Weebly. I will also email the Weebly site to the email addresses which have been shared with me. I will let everyone know I am always available to help, even if its not on Google.
